This mural invites the viewer into a visual journey through Colombia’s cultural and literary identity. Composed of three interconnected sections, it blends landscape, symbolism, and narrative into a unified composition.
The first section portrays Cartagena de Indias, with its colonial architecture and warm Caribbean tones. At its center, a woman of mixed Indigenous and African heritage, dressed in vibrant traditional attire, embodies the strength and vitality of the coastal communities.
The composition then shifts into a more poetic and abstract atmosphere, leading to a coastal lighthouse as a symbol of memory and guidance. A swarm of yellow butterflies rises into the scene, paying tribute to the literary universe of Gabriel García Márquez and the magic realism that defines Colombia’s global cultural presence.
